🐻❄️ How Many E30 M3 Were Made
The Base M3 is the slowest and softest one out of the bunch (473 horses, 406 pound-feet), and you can only get this model with a six-speed manual transmission and RWD. The M3 Competition is a more
Only 25 examples of the M3 E30 Roberto Ravaglia were ever made, and it is believed just 16 were painted in Misano Red, thus making this car even rarer. It appears to be in great condition
The E30 M3 was powered by a raucous four cylinder engine and was only available in left-hand drive. Towards the end of production, a Convertible version was added to the range, but less than 800 of the circa 18,000 E30 M3s built were completed as such.
The brakes and the suspension components were uprated compared with those of the ordinary 3-series, but the E36 was still a few hundred pounds heavier than the 2800-pound E30. Choosing Which One
Only 786 examples of the original E30 M3 Convertible were built, compared to more than 15,000 of the hardtops. When production of the convertible ended in 1991, its four-cylinder engine was producing 215 horsepower. Then came the E36 M3 Convertible in 1994. The European version had a 286-horsepower inline six that was later improved to 321
Numerous special models were made during the BMW M3 E90, E92 and E93’s production period. 2010’s BMW M3 E92 GTS attracted particular attention, and not only due to its Fire Orange paint finish: the special model also achieved a maximum output of 450 hp from its larger 4.4-litre engine.
Only 600 were made, just in 1990, and the M division's list of modifications over a standard E30 M3 is fascinating. This had to continue, and AMG was tough competition. Getty Images
The E30 M3 won the 24 Hours Nürburgring five times (1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1994) and the Spa 24 Hours four times (1987, 1988, 1990 and 1992), often competing against cars with significantly larger or turbocharged engines.
The final stage of the first M3 was ignited by BMW Motorsport GmbH in 1990: the displacement was increased to 2.5 litres, resulting in 238 hp in what is now the M3 Sport Evolution, the most powerful model in BMW’s E30 3 Series.
But probably the biggest number came from his E36 M3 Lightweight collection, five of which sold at a Barrett-Jackson event in early 2020 for a scorching $1.3 million combined. Throw in a pair of E30 M3 examples that reached $220,000 and $165,000 each, and the total becomes even more mindboggling.
The E30 3 Series Touring sold to 103,704 customers, an impressive number for the late 80s. Its successor – the E36 3 Series Touring – was about 30 percent more successful with a total of
It was available both as a two-door coupe and a convertible, but while almost 18,000 E30 M3s were produced for the global market, less than 800 were convertibles, and only a few of those have made it to U.S. shores. At first glance the E30 M3 looks similar to an E30 coupe, but the M3 shares very little in common with its E30 counterparts.
